Congratulations are in order over here at Sparta Consulting Group, because Jaime Fernandez was recently promoted to an assistant manager position! We thought we’d celebrate by getting to know the matador himself. Check out the interview!
Why is your nickname “Matador?”
I’m from Spain and my dad was a matador, he used to be a bullfighter. It’s a big tradition in Spain so I had the chance to practice running the bulls a couple of times.
Why did you come to the United States?
I came to the US with a soccer scholarship from my university and I fell in love with this country!
How did you end up in marketing after college?
After I finished my degree, I decided to pursue an MBA with an emphasis in marketing. After that, I made a really good contact through one of my professors and my wife had an opportunity to move to Miami. So, I decided that Miami would be a good market for me as well because I was bilingual.
Why did you decide to do an MBA in marketing?
Marketing has always been a passion for me, but what I really love is sales. I have great interpersonal skills, which you really need in order to make sales. I’m very social. I used to work for a lot of clubs and events back in Madrid, so I’ve always been surrounded by people. I love interacting with people, so I knew that marketing would be a good fit for me. And then I found the perfect job for myself at Sparta Consulting Group!
What do you like best about working at Sparta Consulting Group?
What I love about Sparta is the atmosphere. Everybody is super young, everybody is fun. I like the challenge of the work. Niko [Gianopoulos] is always willing to teach and to help others learn about how the business works and how to improve and grow professionally. That’s very cool, it’s not something that everybody can say because other jobs are just the same every day. I never get tired of working here because each day is different.
