In football, you basically have a new season each week. Every game you play requires a specific scheme, game plan, and group that gives you the advantage. Whatever weakness the other team has you to try to exploit it and use it as leverage. However, it takes meticulous preparation and time to actually target and develop a strategy that will give you the greatest chance to succeed. If you go in blind, not having done any research or watched any film, you’re going to get exposed and you’re not going to succeed.

Business is very similar in the sense that if you don’t prepare, you’re not going to succeed either. Practice and preparation are the name.

If truly want to succeed in business you have to do your research; you have to watch your film. You need to be able to target the weaknesses and acknowledge the strengths. Once that’s done, you can develop a strategy and begin to practice.

The key is that you can never go in blind. Whether it’s a meeting, a sale, or a phone call, you always have to be prepared for any situation and have a game plan figured out. The opposing team in football might throw something at you that you’ve never seen before, but if you prepared properly, you’ll be ready for any situation. That’s the same for business; you never know what’s going to happen so you better be ready for anything.

The most important thing is that you prepare and practice for any situation in business just as you would on the football field. Sparta Consulting Group appreciates the values that can be taken from football and instilled in our employees. You may not have realized it, but there’s a lot more to football than you think.
